He was the head of a large and loving family which included 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. He had many cherished nieces and nephews, in addition to treasured extended family members and friends.
He was a man of strong faith and prayed the Rosary daily. Bill was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and an usher at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church for 60 years.
Bill was a successful self-employed barber. At one point in time, he operated three barber shops in Detroit. He enjoyed playing the saxophone and was a member of several swing bands.
Bill served in World War II in the United States Army, including the D-Day invasion. His radio communication skills assisted the mission of the 294th Joint Assault Signal Company.
The visitation for Mr. Sayed will be from 2:00-8:00 PM on Sunday, May 21, at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods, with Rosary at 7:00 PM. Mass will be Monday, May 22, 12:00 noon, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, with instate time from 11:30 AM-12:00 noon (at church).
