Born in Detroit, Michigan
Resided in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan
Pat was born February 21, 1960, in Detroit. Raised in St. Clair Shores with her eight brothers and sisters, she was a 1978 graduate of Lake Shore High School. Pat received her bachelor’s and MBA degrees from Wayne State University. Shortly after starting her career at General Motors in 1982, she met the love of her life, Keith, and they married in 1984. Throughout her professional life, she worked as a programmer and then project manager for General Motors, EDS and Hewlett Packard through the various mergers, and finally Ford Motor Company as a well-respected IT Project Manager.
Pat was blessed with a fabulous smile, an infectious laugh, and an indomitable, optimistic spirit. She was constantly on the go, accomplishing so much and making it look so easy. She was very generous with her time and resources, and was a loyal and committed friend to many. She had an amazing talent for connecting instantly with people, making them feel so glad to know her.
Pat enjoyed gardening, biking, yoga, scrapbooking, reading, and daily walks with Keith and their dogs. She especially loved spending time at the family cottage in Ellsworth, one of her favorite destinations. Most important to her, though, was being a mom.
Pat was the beloved wife of Keith, the cherished mother of Nick and Rachel, and the devoted daughter of Shirley and the late Charles Caren. She is also survived by her loving sisters and brothers, Mary Kotowski (the late Alton), Dennis Caren (Tami), Dan Caren (Debi), Leslie Caren (Lynn Schmeling), twin sister Amy Caren Mackey (Gene), Terry Caren, Eileen Bade (Scott) and the late David Caren (former wife Christine). Pat is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
