August 23, 1931 - December 2, 2017
Born in Detroit
Resided in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan
Rosemary met her future husband, Jacob Edward Briski, in the spring of 1949, and it was love at first sight. They were married on August 25, 1951, just two days after her 20th birthday. She and Jacob were blessed to celebrate more than 66 years together before her passing.
Rosemary worked as a secretary at General Motors and later at Wayne State University School of Medicine as a secretary to support her husband as he finished medical school.
Together they raised four wonderful children, Laurence (born in 1952), Jacqueline (1955), Richard (1957), and John (1964). She loved to sew and became an accomplished seamstress. She made many clothes for her family, especially her daughter Jacqueline, and hand crafted all the costumes for her children’s recitals. She embraced painting and fine arts, creating many beautiful paintings which adorn her home and the homes of her children. She also hand-painted numerous pieces of decorative furniture and loved to make ceramic and porcelain figurines - her finest piece being an exquisite porcelain statue of the Infant of Prague.
Movies were a beloved entertainment, and she knew the names and faces of many of the stars of the silver screen. Westerns and the classics of Hollywood cinema were her favorites.
She had a great love of the outdoors and especially enjoyed boating with her family. In their retirement she and her husband spent several years making trips across the country in their RV, taking in beautiful vistas and visiting their children and grandchildren.
Throughout her life she cherished good food and time spent with wonderful friends.
She was the loving wife of Jacob and beloved mother of Laurence (Linda), Jacqueline (Glenn) Errington, John (Lisa) and the late Richard (Terri).
Rosemary was grandmother of Laurence, Robert; John, Jennifer; John Jr., Gabriel; Jacob, Jordan and Jillian.
She is also survived by her loving dog Brandy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Balacon; and her parents-in-law, Jacob and Phyllis Briski.
She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.
