The daughter of Robert and Pauline Pearson Bartlett, she was a resident of Grosse Pointe Park and later St. Clair Shores.
She was a 1954 graduate of South High School and attended Michigan State University and Detroit Business Institute.
Joan was a member of Grosse Pointe Memorial Church for 70 years. She was active in the OWLS (Older, Wiser, Learning Still).
She was an accomplished photographer, often selling her work. Most of her working years were spent as an administrative assistant at the Milwaukee Rail Road. Later she worked at Pier ce School. She revived the lost art of speed writing by taking dictation from the leader of Saving Precious Infants.
Joan loved sailboats, nature, animals, especially cats. She loved the Tuesday night sailboat races at Grosse Pointe Park.
She is survived by dear friends Charlene McCummens, DVM; Jo Ann Debens; Helen Van Loo; Paula Winsky; Marilyn McQueen; Lack Petzoldt; Harry Glowgowski; and Dorothy Brannon.
Visitation will take place on Friday March 16 beginning at 10 am until time of funeral service 10:30 am at Grosse Pointe Memorial Church, 16 Lakeshore Road, Grosse Pointe Farms.
