Robert "Bob" Barto, age 78, a resident of Grosse Pointe Farms passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 in Grosse Pointe. Bob was born on Monday, August 5, 1940 to Laurence and Katherine Barto.

Bob and Jo Ann met at Richard's Drive In on 8 Mile and Van Dyke in 1960 and dated for 3 years before they joined in love on April 18, 1963 at St. Mark Catholic Church in Warren, Michigan. Married 55 years filled with love and joy. Bob served in the United States Marines. He had also done some acting and modeling. He had an appearance in a movie filmed in Detroit that starred Al Pacino. He had some air time with commercials for J.L. Hudson's as well. He worked over 50 years as a successful Realtor investor. After that he worked for Higbie Maxon for over 10 years consulting. In 1968 he and Jo Ann purchased the Baskin-Robbins 31 Flavors in Grosse Pointe Woods on Mack Avenue just South of 8 Mile Road. He was a hard worker but also enjoyed many other hobbies and interests. Bob loved the Chevy Corvette. He owned a 1970 maroon convertible Corvette Roadster and two, 1982 Silver and Black Anniversary Edition Corvettes, that model still has the hips and curves before the switch to the new design. He enjoyed playing tennis and even took up golfing to spend more time with the love of his life Jo Ann. Bob was an animal lover and most importantly to him was spending time with his family and friends.

Dear brother of Gary (Joan) and Bill (Linda).
Brother-in-law of Judy George Pio and Janet Pohl.
Loving uncle of Brad (Denise), Chris, Jill, Ryan (Angi), Mike. Steve (Michelle) McCoy, and Sandra (Garth) Smith.
Great uncle of Peter and Jack Smith; Danielle, Lauren, Melanie (Bobby) Materdomini, and Michael;
Great-great uncle of Nora, Keisha, and Josh McCoy; Logan, Tyler, and Ryder Krupa.
He also leaves behind many other loving family members and friends,

Visitation Sunday 4-8 PM at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave. at Vernier rd., Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236. In state Monday 10:30 Am until funeral Mass 11 AM at St. Clare of Montefalco Catholic Church, 1401 Whittier Rd, Grosse Pointe Park, MI 48230. In lieu of flowers memorials are appreciated to The Fisher House or The Wounded Warriors Project in Bob's memory.
