Obituary

John G. Fuller (February 10, 1923 - March 4, 2019) After battling illness for several months, John G. Fuller passed away peacefully on Monday, March 4, 2019 in Troy, Michigan.

John was a graduate of Redford High School and Michigan State University. He also attended Appalachian State University and the University of Detroit. John served honorably in the United States Army, seeing combat action in the Pacific Theatre during World War II, as a member of the 3008 Quartermaster Graves Registration Company. John was discharged as a Technical Sergeant in 1946 and soon thereafter joined the United States Army Reserves. He continued honorably serving his country in the Army Reserve, retiring in 1983 at the rank of Colonel. In the civilian world, John had a long career in the banking industry, retiring as a Vice-President at Manufacturers Bank.

John was a world traveler, being a member of the Nomads Travel Club, along with his life-long partner, Norbert Zyvonoski. John and Norbert were not content to travel alone, and often shared their travel adventures with family and friends who accompanied them on their many trips throughout the world. In addition to sharing travel adventures, John shared his time and treasure with various organizations including Macomb Community College, Michigan State University, the Salvation Army, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the Military Order of the World Wars, where he served as a Life Member. Many years ago, in recognition for his service and accomplishments on behalf of others, the governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky commissioned John as an honorary Kentucky Colonel.

is survived by his niece Carol Black (Jack), great-niece Kimberly (Black) Fanning (Patrick), great-nephew Jason Black (Amanda), and six great grand-nephews and two great grand-nieces. Colonel John G. Fuller served his partner Norbert, the Zyvon family, friends, community, and country with honor and distinction. He will be sorely missed by all.
